|
|
Hello,
I am new to Pumas and do not yet own one but am looking and learning.
I have some questions about one I looked at last fall. It was titled as a 1987 GTI.
I was wondering if the interior dash and center console are original. Notice the heater/ventilation controls on the dash above the radio. Also this car had power windows. Are these options stock?
Please let me know if you see anything else unusual about this car.
Thanks,
Chris |

All looks pretty good to me. Power windows were a rare option but I would have to look at the hardware to see if they are a Puma installed option or an aftermarket install. Either way, they are a rare thing to have in a Puma. The seats are not factory but don't sweat that....they originals are not very good. I have a couple of stock seats that I am replacing so if you really want some I can help.
Be sure and check with your local laws to see if the 1987 title will be an issue with meeting emissions regulations. Remember that you don't want to have to get this car inspected for smog...it is just another thing you would have to worry with. Get some more pics and we can give you our 2 cents.
Cheers,

Hey Chris,
All looks stock to me. The heater controls are stock, I parted out an 82 last year and the controls were the same.
Good looking car, power windows would be nice.

| Thanks for the info, is the new heater controls any better then the old style? Also did they add a heater blower fan in the dash to help get more heat in the cabin? |

Hello, I was wondering if anyone could tell me if that new style heater controls in the GTI are any better. Do they use a blower fan under the dash?
Thanks. |

The heater controls seemed smoother to operate on the '82 parts car compared to mine but the cables hook up the exact same. I don't think they changed due to an improvement, more likely cheaper to manufacture.
Yes there is a blower fan under the dash, on some cars. Both of my cars had it but, from talking to Purring Pumas, this might have been a cold climate option. I tried to get a new knob for mine and they had never heard of a blower in a Puma.
Did you buy the car?
